Project Engineer-ENGPRJ

Raymond West is looking for a dynamic Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Systems team! The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for proactively managing Suppliers regarding product compliance and Quality Management Systems. He is responsible for understanding product specifications, ensuring supplied items meet all specifications and to prevent defects from being delivered to Raymond West. The life cycle of this responsibility spans from Design and Development through Production and End of Life and includes analysis of failed Supplier Items from Field Failures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary duties and responsibilities will vary with the specific position. Typical responsibilities are listed below. This list is not inclusive.

  • Working with Sourcing and R&D, evaluating capabilities of potential new suppliers.
    • Participate as a team member during New Product Development.
    • Perform statistical process capability studies.
    • Responsible for coordinating First Article Inspection (FAI) reports and Golden Samples
    • Responsible for running environmental and operational testing of finished products and components for investigation as applicable.
    • Prepare Quality inspection instructions and inspection procedures.
  • Monitoring the performance of Suppliers
    • Measure Supplier delivery performance
    • Measure Supplier Quality performance
    • Publish and follow-up actions for Quarterly Supplier Scorecard
  • Work with Site Receiving Inspection
    • Coordinate the analysis and disposition of nonconforming materials.
    • Ensure issues are closed in a timely fashion.
    • Issue and follow to closure (as required) Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA)
    • Communicate current problems to Suppliers and works to solve them, preventing defective materials from being received.
  • Create and follow to closure Non-Conformance Issue Tracking records and reports.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent data analysis skills using Excel and other statistical tools.
  • Excellent Organizational Time Management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office Suite and similar software
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with employees, Co-workers, and Managers in other departments.
  • Must be willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate and willing to assume more responsibility as required.

Education/Experience:

Minimum Education and Experience: Determined by position.

  • University Degree: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Technology or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Must have 10 years minimum experience in Quality or related function.
  • Knowledge/experience with Conveyor manufacturing is a plus.
  • Experience working across multiple technologies and processes.
  • Experience with Lean/Six-Sigma, 5S and Continuous Improvement, highly preferred
  • Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, TS16949

Travel Requirement:

  • 50%- 80% (20 - 32 hours a week)
  • Must be able to be insured by Raymond West.

  • Position is non-Sedentary.

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Position will be required to go onto job sites to perform duties where construction is underway.
  • Lifting requirements will include frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Require use of hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to smell.
  • Required to occasionally climb/balance/stoop/kneel/crouch and crawl.
  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
  • Noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.

Pay Range:

  • The salary range for this position is $53,000 - $118,000. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.

Qualified candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
